According to sources, Hardik Pandya is scheduled to go from Gujarat Titans, an Indian Premier League (IPL) team, and rejoin his former team, the Mumbai Indians, where he began his career in 2015.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-288602″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-ipl-will-gujarat-allow-hardik-pandya-to-leave-he-is-expected-to-return-to-mumbai-d.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com ipl will gujarat allow hardik pandya to leave he is expected to return to mumbai d” width=”1237″ height=”813″ title=”IPL: Will Gujarat allow Hardik Pandya to leave?
According to ESPNcricinfo, the sale would be completed in an all-cash transaction in which Titans will get an undisclosed transfer fee in addition to Mumbai paying Hardik’s salary of INR 15 crore ($1.8 million approximately). Hardik may get as much as 50% of the transfer charge.

But once rumors began to circulate, a source close to the Gujarat Titans said that they couldn’t afford to lose Hardik after two outstanding seasons. This may be the largest player transaction in IPL history if the deal closes. However, neither team has yet to remark publicly on the transfer.

Additionally, Hardik will be the third captain to be dealt after Ajinkya Rahane was traded by the Rajasthan Royals to the Delhi Capitals in 2020 and R Ashwin was traded by the Punjab Kings to the same team.

Having enough cash on hand for the transaction will be the Mumbai Indians’ main obstacle. Mumbai has only INR 0.05 crore ($6000 approx.) remaining after the final auction.

For the next auction, franchises will get an extra INR 5 crore ($600,000 approximately) in their pockets. This implies that in order to complete the Hardik transfer, Mumbai must release player or players.

The deadline for retention is November 26 at 4 p.m. IST.

In 2022, the Titans’ IPL maiden season, Hardik guided the team to victory and was named Player of the Match in the championship match against the Rajasthan Royals. For the second time in two seasons, the Titans advanced to the IPL final in 2023, finishing second behind the Chennai Super Kings. The Titans had won the league championship both seasons while Hardik was leading the team.

Hardik scored 833 runs in 30 innings over his two seasons with the Titans, averaging 41.65 and striking out 133.49. For them, he claimed 11 wickets at an economy rate of 8.1. Due to an ankle injury sustained during India’s ODI World Cup campaign, Hardik is presently sidelined.

Hardik started his IPL career at Mumbai, where he went on to become one of the top all-around players in the league. Hardik was a member of Mumbai’s championship-winning seasons in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 after being acquired for INR 10 lakhs in 2015 as an uncapped player.
