ResetWell Plus Founders Swati Singh and Reshma Tiwari Spark Public Debate on Menopause and Women’s Wellbeing

Calling for an end to the silence surrounding one of women’s least-discussed health issues, ResetWell Plus co-founders Swati Singh and Reshma Tiwari have urged India to have honest conversations about menopause and women’s wellbeing, saying the stigma surrounding this natural life stage continues to affect millions of women physically, emotionally and professionally.

According to global estimates, more than 1.1 billion women worldwide are currently in perimenopause, menopause or post-menopause. India alone is home to over 100 million menopausal women, with the average age of menopause occurring between 46 and 47 years, earlier than in many Western countries. Studies indicate that nearly 80 per cent of women experience menopause-related symptoms, yet many never seek medical advice because of stigma, embarrassment or lack of awareness.

The founders highlighted that one of the least-discussed aspects of menopause is its impact on overall quality of life, including hormonal health, emotional wellbeing, confidence and personal relationships. Many women also experience physical discomfort associated with menopause that can significantly affect their daily lives, yet these concerns often remain undiagnosed because women hesitate to discuss them openly.

“Women are taught to discuss periods in whispers and menopause in silence,” said Swati Singh, author, wellness advocate and co-founder of ResetWell Plus. “Almost nobody prepares women for how hormonal changes can influence confidence, emotional wellbeing, relationships and mental health. Overall wellbeing during menopause deserves greater attention and understanding.”

Swati said the consequences extend well beyond family life.

“When women struggle with chronic sleep deprivation, anxiety, hormonal changes and emotional exhaustion, it inevitably affects their confidence, concentration and workplace productivity. Menopause is not simply a biological transition—it influences every aspect of a woman’s personal and professional life.”

For Swati, the mission was born from her own experience of navigating menopause while living in the United States, where she realised that even educated women often lacked access to credible information and emotional support.

Standing beside her is Reshma Tiwari, a senior corporate finance leader with one of the world’s leading global professional services firms and co-founder of ResetWell Plus, who believes menopause deserves recognition not only as a healthcare issue but also as a workplace and family wellbeing issue.

“Menopause does not only affect women physically,” said Reshma Tiwari. “It influences emotional wellbeing, communication, self-esteem, relationships and workplace participation. Yet many women still hesitate to discuss these changes—even with their families or doctors. That silence delays support and leaves women believing they simply have to endure it.”

Research has increasingly linked unmanaged menopause symptoms with increased stress, burnout, absenteeism, reduced workplace productivity and experienced women stepping away from leadership roles during the peak of their careers. Experts estimate that women today spend nearly one-third of their lives in post-menopause, making long-term awareness and support more important than ever before.

“In India, women are celebrated for resilience,” Reshma added. “But resilience should never mean silently accepting pain, discomfort or emotional distress. Awareness empowers women to seek help, strengthens families and enables organisations to better support experienced female talent.”

Through expert-led education, webinars, podcasts, community initiatives, corporate awareness programmes and personalised wellness solutions, ResetWell Plus is working to normalise conversations around menopause while encouraging families, healthcare professionals and employers to become active participants in women’s midlife health.

The founders believe menopause should no longer be viewed as a private struggle but as a public health, workplace and societal priority.

“Women should never have to feel embarrassed about what their bodies naturally go through,” said Swati Singh. “Breaking the silence around menopause is about improving health, preserving wellbeing and ensuring millions of women can live with confidence, dignity and knowledge.”
